JOHN LAUNCHES 'RELAY' FOR MUSIC VENUE TRUST

Hello Dear Human Beans Out There,

I wanted to tell you about RELAY, a new covers album series I've launched today with the help of some brilliant musical humans.

Volume One is available now on Bandcamp only for a price of your choosing, with all proceeds going to Music Venue Trust, helping UK grassroots music venues survive this tough time with their #SaveOurVenues campaign.

The concept is a kind of song-relay circulating around artists from the independent music scene, with people recording cover versions of each other's songs at home during lockdown, and passing the baton on to other artists to get involved. It's a small way to keep our community of musical wanderers in creative contact in the wake of all tours and gigs being cancelled. Thanks to the wonderful collaborative spirit of all who got involved so far it's snowballed quickly into what I think is a really beautiful first record of intimate little love-notes between artists from the independent folk, world, alternative, electronica and songwriting worlds.

All the artists have contributed their work to this project for free - it's my hope that this is also a way of turning you, dear independent music fan, onto new music to get your chompers into. I'd encourage you to follow the musical jellybean trails and check out all of the artists you may not know on this record (links are on the download page), and where possible show them some love in whatever way you can - and catch them live when we can all be in rooms together again, of course!

I really hope you enjoy immersing yourself in this new music; a thousand thank yous, more than ever, for supporting independent musicians and venues through the immense challenges this time is presenting everyone with. Our vibrant scene will explode back in to life when all this has passed because you've kept on listening, sharing, connecting, boogying, and we bloody love you for it.
